Amenorrhea

Amenorrhea is defined as the absence of menstruation in a woman of reproductive age for a period twice as long as the normal menstrual cycle of a woman who has previously menstruated (called Secondary) or the absence of menstruation in a girl over the age of 16.

The amenorrhea treatment in Ayurveda is also known as Anarthava. This can happen at any age in women but is mostly prevalent in women of young age between 16 to 24.

But what is Amenorrhea?

Amenorrhea is not a disease and does not indicate infertility, but it can be a sign of a health problem that requires attention. This is segmented into two divisions.

There are two types of amenorrhea –

Amenorrhea Primary

Menarche does not occur in primary amenorrhea, even if the girl is over the age of 16. Primary amenorrhea is linked to

– Cryptomenorrhagia (Imperforate Hymen)

Congenital agencies of the uterovaginal canal or the uterus, as well as septate vagina, indicate congenital obstructive lesions of the genital tract.

– An infertile uterus indicates a chromosomal abnormality in the sex (Turners Syndrome)

Why does amenorrhea occur?

Amenorrhea is a normal (physiological) occurrence in girls before puberty (Menarche), during pregnancy and breastfeeding (Lactation), and after menopause, and it is regarded as symptom of functional and structural abnormalities of the Female Reproductive System.

In general, it is considered abnormal by the age of 14 in girls who have no other signs of secondary sexual development, or by the age of 16 in girls who have normal secondary sexual characteristics.

Secondary Amenorrhea

Menstrual cessation occurs more than 6 months after normal menstruation and is associated with Anorexia Nervosa, weight loss, and extreme emaciation, indicating Anorexia Nervosa, Infertility, Obesity, and Polycystic Ovarian Disease.

– The primary symptom is a lack of menstruation

– Discharge of Milky Nipple

– Migraine

– Vision Alteration

– Increased Facial Hair

– Inadequate Breast Development

-Dry Vaginal Skin

Another common ailment that Ayurveda treats is Cough and the common cold. And the most effective way is to take Kaf syrup. This is the syrup that provides treatment for dry coughing in adults as well as kids. This syrup heals the coughing from inside and helps to ease in breathing and headaches.

Herbal cough syrup that is very effective for dry cough, cold, catarrh, and sore throat. This syrup is also effective in treating coughs and colds in children. It has a calming effect on children who have mild fever, chest congestion, or breathing problem.

According to Ayurveda, the causes of amenorrhea are related to the ‘Dosha’ condition, such as eating excessively cold, light, and dry foods or drinking cold or fizzy drinks, which increases the ‘Vata’ energy in the body. The regular and excessive consumption of food that produces gas during digestion aggravates ‘Vata.’
